Correction: 60-Day Extension of Emergency Rule 2029 approved through May 6, 2021 and Save the Date - Nurse Aide Training Program Webinar – Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 10 a.m.

The Department of Health Services (DHS) has been granted the final 60-day extension on Emergency Rule 2029 (EmR 2029), relating to certification of programs for training and testing nurse aides. At this time, EmR 2029 has been extended through May 6, 2021.

If you currently run an Emergency Training Program (ETP) or employ temporary nurse aides, both allowed by the provisions included in EmR 2029, you do not need to do anything at this time and may continue to train student nurse aides and train/employ temporary nurse aides. This is the second and final extension allowed for this Emergency Rule.

Save the Date!

The Division of Quality Assurance (DQA) will hold a webinar on March 25, 2021, to discuss the plan to allow ETPs and temporary nurse aides to continue working throughout the duration of the Federal Health Emergency.

The webinar will include information regarding how to proceed with ETPs and temporary nurse aides following the end of EmR 2029 on May 6, 2021, through the end of federal public health emergency and how to request a new nurse aide Emergency Training Program (ETP). Please submit any questions you would like addressed on the webinar by emailing them to DHSDQACOVID19@dhs.wisconsin.gov by noon on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. The webinar will be held using Zoom with a call-in option provided.
