E-SOD and E-Renewal Updates for DQA Regulated Assisted Living Providers

E-SOD
The Division of Quality Assurance (DQA), Bureau of Assisted Living (BAL) reached its goal in 2020 by having over 90% of assisted living providers participate in the electronic Statement of Deficiency (e-SOD) process. The e-SOD process allows BAL to issue SOD’s to the provider using an email address. Providers must complete a Provider Agreement form F-00593 to obtain authorization from the licensee to receive SOD’s electronically and indicate which email addresses are to be used.

Assisted living providers who have not signed up the e-SOD process should contact the BAL regional office that serves your facility to request, complete, and return the Provider Agreement form F-00593.

E-Renewal
DQA BAL requires all regulated assisted living providers to submit biennial/annual reports and license/certification continuation fees using the e-renewal program. The e-renewal program allows providers to complete, sign, and submit biennial/annual reports online. In addition, license/certification continuation fees may be submitted online using a credit card or electronic funds transfer/automatic clearing house (ACH) via the US Bank secure site.

This requirement applies to 3-4 bed adult family homes (AFH), community-based residential facilities (CBRF) with a regular license, certified residential care apartment complexes (RCAC), and adult day care centers (ADCC). CBRFs with a probationary license are not eligible to renew their license via e-renewal and registered RCACs are not required to participate in the e-renewal program at this time.

We invite you to register your eligible assisted living facility today so you are prepared when the license/certification renewal comes due. To learn more about the e-renewal program and review the registration instructions, please visit the Assisted Living Online License and Certification Continuations via E-renewal webpage.

Please contact your BAL regional office if you have any questions regarding other of these updates.
