Resources for Community-Based Organizations, Vaccinators, and Immunization Stakeholders

Ensuring that all of your patients and clients get their flu vaccination (also called flu shot, or flu immunization) this year is more important than ever. We value your partnership and recognize that you are positioned to use the materials below in a way that resonates with the people you serve. We believe that locally-led messaging is the most valuable way to disseminate information about the importance of everyone getting their vaccine this year.

Below you will find resources that you can share to encourage the people you serve to get their flu vaccinations. Please feel free to use the information and messages in a way that makes sense for the people you serve.

Thank you for all you do!

Wisconsin resources for local health departments, tribes, schools, and health care providers

Check out our Influenza Vaccine 2020-2021 Resources which include: a press release template, message map, and extra social media message templates. You can cut the information from the PDF and paste into a Word document so that you can edit the wording to fit your organization's specific needs.

Awareness and Education
Face to Face (or Phone to Phone)

One of the most important ways you can help people protect themselves from the flu is by using your personal, trusted voices to share information. Learn how to make a strong influenza vaccine recommendation and don’t forget to communicate the benefits of the flu vaccine during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prepare yourselves for the more tricky discussions by familiarizing yourself with frequently asked questions, answers and misconceptions. Knowing the different types of vaccines available, such as options for those with egg allergies and needleless vaccines, can help you assure people that there is a vaccine to suit their personal needs. You could also recommend other ways to make vaccination more pleasant for adults and children who are scared of needles, such as sugar, deep breaths and topical anesthetics.

Posters, Infographics, and Factsheets
You could print free posters and print materials, infographics, and factsheets in different sizes, formats, and languages for different audiences. You could also put animated images, videos, or trivia questions on TVs in shared rooms or upload them to your website.

Looking for other resources or posters for your public spaces? Check out the Wisconsin Influenza Prevention page, Families Fighting Flu’s free resources for various stakeholders, Los Angeles’ Department of Public Health’s innovative posters, or the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s excellent education resources.

Outreach
Social Media Posts

We recognize different age groups and demographics use different social media platforms. We encourage you to please share CDC’s sample messages and images on your various social media platforms.

You can be a health care advocate! Call your health care provider today to make vaccine appointments for yourself and share the information with your friends and family. You can also use vaccinefinder.gov to find a provider near you. If the cost of the vaccine is a concern, you or your children may be eligible for free or lower-cost vaccines (or share information about your local vaccine program.)

Website Additions and Support
You can easily add CDC’s flu content and flu buttons and widgets, like a Vaccine Finder, to your website to help people get vaccinated.

Appointment Reminder Templates
If you are a health care provider, you can create reminder/recall notices through the Wisconsin Immunization Registry to set up call, text, and email reminders to help your patients stay on top of their vaccinations.

Or you can use CDC’s email template to remind your patients to schedule appointments for their influenza vaccines. This template is customizable to best fit your practice and patient population, but, unfortunately, is not yet tailored to the current pandemic. You could add in a short message about the importance of the flu vaccine during COVID-19.

Also, you can easily customize the Association of Immunization Manager’s routine immunization postcards to remind your patients that they can call you to make appointments, and to let them know that you have COVID-related safety precautions in place to provide vaccinations safely.

Thank you!
