Applications Open for Round Two of Wisconsin's CARES Act Provider Payments Program
The second round of applications for the state's CARES Act Provider Payments (CAPP) Program is now open. Under this program, specific health care provider types can apply for funds to offset COVID-19-specific losses and expenses they have incurred during the pandemic. The second round application will allow eligible providers to include losses and expenses for June, July, and August of 2020. Applications will close on September 30, 2020.
A link to the application is available on the Wisconsin Department of Health Services' (DHS') CAPP Program web page.
Eligible Providers
Health care providers eligible to apply for this program are:
- Home and community-based service providers
- Assisted living facilities
- Nursing homes
- Emergency medical services providers
-
(new) Emergency physician independent practice groups*
The CAPP Program web page provides more information and definitions regarding these provider types.
Second Round Payments
DHS encourages all eligible providers to apply. In calculating the second round of payments, DHS will not deduct other CARES Act payments that providers have received (including Payroll Protection Program loans). Previous applicants will not be able to change the March, April, and May amounts they submitted originally, but those amounts will be used in the calculation of the second round payment. New applicants will be able to enter amounts for March through August 2020. Consult the CAPP Program web page for details on how payments will be calculated.
Demonstration Webinars
DHS will host four webinar sessions in the next two weeks to assist eligible providers in filling out the round two application, consisting of a live demonstration followed by the chance for the audience to ask questions. All webinars will include the same content, distributed across different days and times to accommodate participant availability. Dates and links to webinars are available on the CAPP Program web page.
* Emergency physician independent practice groups are defined as private physician groups owned by or employing state-licensed emergency physicians. Eligible groups must have an emergency medicine taxonomy and hold a Wisconsin Medicaid specialty certification for emergency medicine.
