Three Month Extensions of Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Treatment Certifications

The Division of Quality Assurance, Behavioral Health Certification Section (BHCS) is not conducting onsite surveys for recertification of mental health and substance use disorder treatment providers at this time. Certifications expiring while the travel restrictions are in place will be temporarily extended for three months regardless if applications and fees have been received via postal mail.

BHCS will email you a temporary certificate for use. Forward Health will be notified of all temporary extensions. When travel restrictions are lifted, the department will make decisions on conducting catch-up surveys. Missing recertification applications and fees will be requested at that time.

BHCS will also send annual recertification and desk review notices via email instead of sending via postal mail during this time. We ask that you verify that the contact name and email address is correct as posted on the online Mental Health Provider Directory and Substance Use Treatment Provider Directory if your certification expires in 2020.

Please contact BHCS at 608-261-0656 or at DHSDQAMentalHealthAODA@dhs.wisconsin.gov if you have changes or have any questions regarding the temporary certificate extensions.
