ABAWD FoodShare Members Temporarily Exempt From the Work Requirement Starting April 1, 2020

Starting April 1, 2020, able-bodied adults without dependents (ABAWD) FoodShare members who are not meeting the FoodShare work requirement, or are exempt from the requirement for another reason, will receive a temporary exemption from the work requirement. This temporary exemption will last until no later than September 30, 2020. During the temporary exemption, members will not lose any of their three months of time-limited FoodShare benefits.

Starting in March, ABAWD FoodShare members affected by the temporary exemption will be sent a letter notifying them of the exemption. Members will be sent a second letter prior to the temporary exemption ending.

The temporary exemption is based on a new finalized federal Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) ABAWD rule.
