Stakeholder Call Series: Wisconsin Programs Eligibility Policy Updates

February 19, 2020: Public Charge Follow Up

As a follow up to Wednesday's stakeholder call, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services is sharing some additional resources regarding public charge.

The federal government has changed the public charge rule with a start date of February 24, 2020. Public charge may affect some immigrants who use certain public benefits, such as BadgerCare Plus, Medicaid, and FoodShare. For more information about public charge, visit Covering Wisconsin.

Upcoming Public Charge Webinar

The Wisconsin Collaboration on Immigrants and Public Benefits is offering a free live webinar on public charge at 12 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2020. This 40-minute webinar is for professionals who work directly with immigrant communities and will include:

  • Simplified information about public charge and how it affects immigrants who use public benefits.
  • Resources to help consumers.
  • 20 minutes for questions at the end of the webinar.
