Time is Running out to Register! Hand Hygiene: A Resident Safety Imperative

Registration is now available for the “Hand Hygiene: A Resident Safety Imperative” conference for ALL staff who work in Wisconsin nursing homes. The conference will take place on October 15, 2019, at the Madison Marriott West Hotel and Conference Center in Madison and costs just $50 per person. The conference is a cooperative effort of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Division of Quality Assurance, and the Wisconsin Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) in Long-Term Care Coalition.

Has your nursing home facility mastered the science and practice of hand hygiene?

  • Did you know that despite the fact that hand hygiene is the single most effective intervention to prevent the spread of infection; it is still one of the most common reasons for deficiencies?
  • Are you teaching your staffs that alcohol-based hand rub is the preferred method when indicated for hand hygiene?
  • Do you have a system in place to consistently audit compliance with hand hygiene?
  • Do you know how to calculate hand hygiene compliance rates?
  • Are you using the correct hand hygiene products
  • Do you know the human factor barriers that interfere with hand hygiene performance and how to develop strategies to overcome these barriers?

If you have concerns or questions about any of these issues, please plan to have your staffs attend this conference featuring national experts sharing hand hygiene best practices.

This activity will be submitted to Wisconsin Nurses Association (WNA) Continuing Education Approval Program for approval to award contact hours. The WNA is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

The number of contact hours granted will depend upon sessions attended and return of the completed evaluation form.
