Registration is now available for the 18th annual FOCUS conference for health care providers and Division of Quality Assurance (DQA) staff. The two-day conference will take place at the Kalahari Convention Center in the Wisconsin Dells on November 20 and 21, 2019. The FOCUS 2019 conference will feature nearly 50 different topics and more than 50 expert speakers.

The theme of the special session, held on the first day of the conference, is “Let’s Talk About It! Topics Too Important to Ignore.” The special session will address a wide variety of current and emerging issues such as sexual expression, abuse, and resident rights.

The first day will begin with a keynote address by author, speaker, and founder of CaregiverHelp.com, Elaine Sanchez, “Dad Did What?!!! Sexuality, Dementia and Long-Term Care.” The day will end with a plenary talk, “Putting the Spotlight on Elder Abuse: Forgotten Victims No More” from Paul Greenwood, a retired prosecutor and current elder abuse consultant.

The theme of the FOCUS 2019 Conference on the second day is “Teach, Learn, Collaborate.” The conference will address a wide variety of health care related topics. Teepa Snow will deliver the keynote address, “Dementia 360.”

The FOCUS 2019 conference was developed in collaboration with DQA, health care providers, and provider association representatives.
