Updates re: the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry/Nurse Aide Training & Competency Evaluation Program

The Division of Quality Assurance (DQA) administers the federal and state requirements for the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry/Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NAR/NATCEP). This message provides important information regarding changes in the management and administration of the WI NAR/NATCEP provided under contract.

Effective September 1, 2018, the management of the NAR/NATCEP will transition to D & S Diversified LLP dba as Headmaster out of Helene, Montana and Finley, Ohio. Some key dates affecting NAR/NACTCEP during transition are as follows:

  • August 1, 2018
o   Pearson VUE will no longer accept a completed application for testing.
o   Pearson VUE will return applications received after this date to the candidate.
  • August 12, 2018
o   Pearson VUE will no longer administer any competency evaluations.
o   Students completing a nurse aide training on or after August 1st will need to register with the new vendor for competency evaluation.
  • August 31, 2018
o   Pearson VUE will no longer provide management of the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry and administration of the Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation Program.
  • September 1, 2018
o   Headmaster will provide management of the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry and administration of the Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation.
o   The ability to register online for competency evaluations after September 1 will be available mid to late August.

As former DHS Secretary Kitty Rhoades used to say, “We’re all in this together”. DQA and Headmaster are embracing this motto as we transition to exciting changes in the management and administration of the WI NAR/NATCEP being brought by Headmaster. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience during this transition. Please watch for information and updates regarding the transition on the DHS Nurse Aide Training and Registry website at: https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/caregiver/nurse-aide/natd-registry.htm.
