FYI / Requirements for federally-certified
Long-Term Care Facilities

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has published a webpage at https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Provider-Enrollment-and-Certification/GuidanceforLawsAndRegulations/Nursing-Homes.html that provides comprehensive information and useful resources about the new requirements for Long Term Care (LTC) facilities, including survey protocols and interpretative guidelines developed to help explain and clarify the intent of the new regulations.

The CMS webpage for LTC facilities also contains a recently released overview, via a PowerPoint presentation, of the new Long-Term Care survey process which will become effective November 28, 2017.  Nursing home providers are encouraged to bookmark the webpage as CMS will continue to provide additional information about the background and overview of the final rule, frequently asked questions, and other related resources.

If you have questions, please contact your Regional Field Operations Director.
