Spring Meeting Focuses on Quality Improvement

CCS Spring 2017 Statewide Meeting

More than 250 county and tribal staff as well as service providers and consumers attended the 2017 Spring Meeting April 12 at the Jefferson Street Inn in Wausau. 

The focus of this meeting was program quality improvement. A group of county and tribal staff presented a new toolkit for counties and tribes to ensure consumers are receiving the best possible mental health and substance use services.

    Save the Date: 2017 Fall Meeting

    The 2017 Fall Meeting is scheduled for September 20 at the Glacier Canyon Lodge Conference Center at the Wilderness Resort in Lake Delton. This will be a joint meeting with county and tribal staff involved in Coordinated Services Teams (CST) Initiatives. The agenda and online registration form for this meeting will be released in August.

    DUE TODAY: 2016 Program Survey

    Complete the 2016 CCS Program Survey no later than June 16, 2017. Direct questions about this survey to Christopher Keenan.


    Two Tribes Join CCS

    • Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, effective April 1, 2017
    • Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, effective May 1, 2017

    CCS is available in 64 counties and three tribal nations.


    Quarterly Service Numbers

    All counties and tribes have reported enrollment and discharge data for the first quarter of 2017. As of March 31, 2017, CCS is serving 4,885 people, up from 4,567 people at the end of the fourth quarter of 2016.


    Medicaid Covers CCS Residential Substance Use Treatment

    Medicaid now funds residential substance use treatment provided through CCS. Read ForwardHealth Update (2017-12) for more information.


    Certified Peer Specialist Expansion Initiative Moves Forward

    DCTS has selected and trained nine peers who are ready to provide training under the new integrated peer specialist curriculum. DCTS is sponsoring trainings statewide. There will be no charge to participate in this training. View the list of scheduled trainings. The nine DCTS trainers also can provide trainings for counties and/or agencies.

    In 2017, and continuing until further notice, there will be three certification exams per year for integrated peer specialists. View the list of exam dates.

    DCTS continues to work on the curriculum for parent peer specialists. This work should be completed by the end of the summer. DCTS will conduct a train the trainers workshop after the curriculum has been written.


    Mendota Mental Health Institute Consumer Conference

    The theme for this year's Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI) Consumer Conference is Ethics of Diversity. It will be held August 23, 2017, at the MMHI Conference Center in Madison. Continuing education units for professionals and credits for certified peer specialists are available. Register by July 14, 2017.
