Nationwide Recall of Frozen Strawberries

The Division of Public Health (DPH) has been informed of a nationwide recall of frozen strawberries exported to the U.S. by the International Company for Agricultural Production & Processing (ICAPP).  The recall was prompted by evidence that this product was associated with a recent Hepatitis A outbreak in the U.S.  Additionally, the Hepatitis A virus was detected in four lots of the exported frozen strawberries.  See http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm527273.htm.

Specific recalled lot numbers are not yet available for us to share with you.  Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, DPH recommends that any frozen strawberries in your facility’s possession be sequestered and NOT served to any residents, patients or staff.

Additional information may be shared if more specific details on lot numbers and labeling become available.
