Agencies and Professional Organizations Support NPUAP’s Pressure Injury Staging
System
On August 30, 2016 the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) announced the revised Pressure Injury Staging System. According to the news release, “The NPUAP revised the Pressure Injury Staging System following a consensus conference in April. The response to the changes has been positive. To date, The Joint Commission (TJC) has adopted the new terminology and CMS has been in discussions with the NPUAP to incorporate the new terminology. The rollout of the changes will be controlled by these agencies. The National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) is also changing their materials to use the new terminology with changes to be in place by 2017…”
