Noncertified Individuals in Delivery of
Non-Hands-On Services

Healthcare providers across the state continue to report difficulty in hiring and retaining certified nurse aides.  In recognition of this situation, the Department has updated and is redistributing a list of tasks that can be performed by noncertified individuals, such as volunteers, helpers, or hospitality aides, to reduce the workload of certified nurse aides and give them more time for direct resident care. These tasks, which do not involve direct resident care, can be performed by individuals who are not certified as nurse aides.

DQA Publication P-01559, Noncertified Individuals in Delivery of Non-Hands-On Services, itemizes the tasks that a noncertified individual can perform in a nursing home.

Please contact the Division of Quality Assurance, Office of Caregiver Quality at DHSCaregiverIntake@wisconsin.gov or 608-261-8328 if you have any questions.
