FYI / Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) Toolkit for Long-Term Care Employers

Influenza is a serious health threat, especially for vulnerable populations like older adults and people living with chronic medical conditions. It’s especially important that people living with and caring for frail, disabled and/or aging persons—including those who work in long-term care (LTC)—get vaccinated for influenza.

The comprehensive toolkit found at http://www.cdc.gov/flu/toolkit/long-term-care/index.htm includes a number of resources intended to help long-term care facility, agency, corporation owners and administrators provide access to influenza vaccination for their workforce and to help any employer of workers in long-term care understand the importance of influenza vaccination for their employees.

The CDC, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), and the Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC) recommend that all U.S. health care workers get vaccinated annually against influenza. Read more about who is included in this recommendation and why vaccination is especially important for these professionals at http://www.cdc.gov/flu/healthcareworkers.htm.
