June 9 – 16, 2016 marks the 39th anniversary of
National Nursing Assistant Week; with Thursday June 9th as National Career
Nursing Assistants’ Day. The state of Wisconsin would like to thank and
commemorate the hard working Nursing Assistants, Home Care Aides, and Patient
Care Assistants. These caring professionals who provide the vast majority
of the daily, hands-on care in nursing homes and other long term care settings
across Wisconsin. The wellbeing and happiness of many of our most
vulnerable citizens depend in large part on the care and support they receive
from Nursing Assistants who are instrumental in promoting
and safeguarding the physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of the
residents, clients, and their families.
Nursing Assistants are trained professionals, who have spent
many hours on their training and education in order to successfully collaborate
with other health care providers to provide quality care to our elder, frail
and disabled citizens in communities across Wisconsin. In 1990, Wisconsin
became one of the first states to develop a registry of Nursing Assistants,
facilitating Nurse Aide employment while providing family members with
confidence in their care choices.
Happy National Nursing Assistant Week to all of Wisconsin’s
Nursing Assistants, Home Care Aides, and Patient Care Assistants!
