Recording of the May 29, 2024, Certified Swine Sample Collector (CSSC) Rollout Meeting
On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP), in conjunction with Dr. Marisa Rotolo from the National Pork Board (NPB), held a virtual rollout of the Certified Swine Sample Collector (CSSC) training program for Wisconsin. This program was created to supplement the number of people trained and authorized to sample swine in the event of a Foreign Animal Disease (FAD) outbreak.
For those Category II accredited veterinarians who missed the virtual rollout, you may access a recording of the virtual meeting on the DATCP YouTube channel.
Any veterinarian who is planning to train non-veterinarians to collect swine samples in conjunction with the CSSC program is required to contact DATCP to report who is being trained. As the state animal health office, DATCP is required to keep a current list of the trainers and trainees before non-veterinarians are permitted to sample swine as part of the CSSC program.
Please contact Dr. Julie McGwin at Julie.mcgwin@wisconsin.gov or (608) 572-5318 to report CSSC training or if you have any questions.
