Dear valued restaurant operator,
This contains important information regarding Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) requirements, and how the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is assisting the industry during this challenging time.
Because Emergency Order No. 12 prohibits gatherings of 10 people or more, CFPM classes are temporarily unavailable. Here are a couple frequently asked questions about CFPM requirements.
If my CFPM certificate has expired, or is about to expire, will my restaurant/retail food establishment be penalized for operating without one?
You will not be penalized for having an expired certificate during the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the cancellation of CFPM courses, DATCP is extending the requirement to renew this certification by 90 days after courses resume. If your certificate expires, please continue operating as usual.
DATCP has informed all local health departments of this change. We continue to monitor the situation and will adjust if it persists for a longer period of time.
What if I have a conditional license due to the lack of a CFPM? Will this also be extended?
Yes. If you are operating under a conditional license, this will be extended. After the emergency order is lifted, we will provide additional instructions.
