MADISON, Wisconsin – Pelkin’s Smokey Meat Market, located in Crivitz, Wisconsin, is voluntarily recalling a variety of sausage products, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) announced today. The products were processed using wheat, which is a known allergen that was not declared on the label.
Wheat can cause serious reactions in people with an allergy or severe sensitivity. No illnesses have been reported from consuming this product. The product is safe to consume by those who do not have an allergy or intolerance to wheat.
This voluntary recall is initiated based on evidence collected during a routine inspection conducted by state inspectors at this establishment. The following products are included in the recall:
- Skinless Wieners*
- Jalapeno and Cheddar Wieners
- Cheddar Ring Bologna
- Cooked Mettwurst Links
- Andouille
- Ring Bologna
- Jalapeno & Cheddar Summer Sausage
- Jalapeno Wieners
- Pepper Jack Summer Sausage
- Lg. Sliced Pepper Jack Summer Sausage
- Reg. Summer Sausage with Cheddar
- Slicing Reg. Summer Sausage with Cheddar
- Beef Summer Sausage*
- Cheddarwurst*
- Beef Wieners*
- Jumbo Wieners
- Smoked Beef and Pork Polish Sausage

All products were sold between April 3 and May 1, 2017 at either the Piggly Wiggly in Coleman, Wisconsin or directly from the producer’s store. The establishment is working with DATCP to collect as much product as possible. All retail products were sold in approximately 1-pound packages and bear the mark of inspection, which includes the state of Wisconsin containing the words “WIS. DEPT. AGR. INSPECTED 113.”
