New rules for Egypt

Manufacturers and trademark owners of specific retail products being shipped to Egypt are now required to register with the Egyptian Ministry of Industry and Trade. The full decree, a list of impacted products and example documents are provided here. US exporters of affected products must comply with all Egyptian laws and regulations to ensure customs clearance.

Korea: Mandatory Foreign Facility Registration

Click on the link above to read the latest GAIN report on Korea’s Special Act on Imported Food Safety Management that includes mandatory foreign facility registration.  The report provides changes/new requirements that have been made in the Special Act.  It also provides instructions for foreign facilities (food facilities and livestock establishments) to register their plants to the Ministry of Food & Drug Safety.  As noted in the report, foreign facilities includes not only food facilities but also packing houses, grain storage facilities (such as export elevators), fishery plants, etc. that handle products that are inspected by MFDS. Korea’s current grace period for foreign facility registration will end on August 3rd
