6-year old Ruby has her COVID-19 vaccine, but she still had a few questions she needs answered.

Demand for COVID-19 tests has increased and more testing sites are now open. Get tested if you have symptoms.
Our testing site at the Washington State Fair Bronze lot is open Monday-Saturday and now offers antigen tests. Pierce County's testing site at Spanaway Park is open Tuesday-Saturday. The Puyallup Tribe testing site at E. 29th St. in Tacoma is open Wednesday-Saturday. You don't need an appointment for any of those locations. And Governor Inslee announced the National Guard will set up a testing site at MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital.

CDC shortened the recommended isolation and quarantine periods to 5 days, followed by 5 more days wearing a mask around others. We hope the shorter period will help more people to follow it. We know that the best way to reduce the spread of any contagious illness is to keep it away from others.

Someone you love might live a longer healthier life, thanks to a generous gift from the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. The Tribe awarded Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department a 1-year, $158,664 grant to help reduce tobacco use among our residents.
Tobacco is an important focus of our work. It’s the top cause of preventable death and disease in Pierce County. Our residents have higher rates of adult smoking than the national average.

We recently moved to a new data reporting schedule. We organized it into 3 buckets:
- Tuesday: Cases, deaths, hospitalizations and demographics.
- Wednesday: Vaccines.
- Thursday: Outbreaks, including schools, businesses and long-term care facilities.
This allows our team investing time not spent on daily updates to bring you more useful stories!
You can still get the latest Pierce County data on COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths. It's updated Monday-Friday and can be found under the State Dashboard heading on our main data page. We've written up some instructions to help you find what you're looking for.
