Soon after COVID-19 vaccines arrived, you asked us how well they work.
For months, we’ve been hard at work to bring you data on breakthrough cases in Pierce County. You can now see them on our dashboards for the first time.
Our data tells the same story we’ve seen at the state and national level. Vaccinated people in Pierce County are much less likely to be infected, hospitalized, or die from COVID-19.

The best defense against COVID-19 is vaccination.
We’re still recovering from a fifth wave of cases locally. Other countries and parts of the East Coast are watching closely to see if they’re in the early stages of a sixth wave.
You can now get a booster shot for all 3 COVID-19 vaccines if you’re 18 and older. These doses offer another layer of protection and are especially important for those at high risk of severe illness.

Are you Trypanophobic? You may be and not know it. Fear of needles is normal. Yet it’s keeping people from getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
Trypanophobia is the scientific term for fear of needles. It affects more people than you might think. About one quarter of adults fear needles. Nearly two-thirds of children do, too.
We have tips for providers, parents and patients to help you work through Trypanophobia.

If you’re 18 or older, you can now get a booster shot of any COVID-19 vaccine 6 months after your second dose of Pfizer and Moderna and 2 months after your single Johnson & Johnson shot.
These doses offer another layer of protection and are especially important for those at high risk of severe illness.
All our vaccine locations offer booster shots of the vaccines they carry to everyone 18 and older.
You can choose the vaccine type you already received or pick a different booster. ➡️ tpchd.org/vaxtothefuture
