Welcome to the Tacoma Arts Month e-newsletter. In each email,
we'll bring you timely information about the multitude of fabulous arts and
culture events you can be a part of this October. Let us help you plan out your
weekday and weekend social calendar. The newsletters will be send twice weekly
from late-September through October.

a preview of what's coming up this October.
 Wednesday, October 4

Join us for a community celebration of the arts as we kick off Tacoma Arts Month and celebrate the 2017 AMOCAT Arts Awardees and funding recipients.
Enjoy a stellar line-up of entertainment including:
- Music by Will Jordan, Smokey Wonder, Travis Barker, Ben Wildenhaus, and Chromatography
- West African dance and drumming performance by T.U.P.A.C.
- Taiwanese dance performance by Asia Pacific Cultural Center
- Contemporary dance by Barefoot Collective
- Poetry by Tacoma Poet Laureate Kellie Richardson and Jinx Jones
- Staged reading of CLOSE written by Nick Stokes and directed by Jose Amador
- Multimedia art exhibits by Mauricio Robalino, Qin Tan, Gillian Nordlund, and Erika Ray
- Film screenings and popcorn with The Grand Cinema
- Hands-on art making with Tacoma Art Museum
- TeenTix
Enjoy appetizers and no-host bar while we honor the 2017 funding recipients and AMOCAT Arts Award winners - Tacoma Housing Authority, Monkeyshines, and Michael Haeflinger.
It's all free and open to the public - pack up the family, invite your friends and come help us celebrate! Presented by the Tacoma Arts Commission and Spaceworks Tacoma; hosted by Tacoma Musical Playhouse; sponsored by Northwest Stage and The Grand Cinema.
 October 14 & 15 11 am – 5 pm 42 locations around Tacoma FREE!
You
are invited inside the working studios of 70 local artists to learn about the
artistic process, ask questions, and purchase one-of-a-kind creations. All
studios will feature demonstrations or will have hands-on activities for
visitors. This is a free, family friendly, self-guided tour. Check

tour course.
Tacoma Studio Tour Passport - Visit and Win!
Make sure to have your Studio
Tour Passport stamped at each studio address you visit. Once you've collected
at least 8 stamps, send us the page and you'll be entered into a drawing for a
chance to win one of several fabulous prize packages containing artwork
hand-crafted by a selection of artists on this tour. The Tacoma Studio
Tour Passport can be picked up at all studio locations during the tour or print your own Tacoma Studio Tour Passport.

With hundreds of community-hosted arts and culture
events happening in October, there is something for everyone to enjoy:
music, dance and theater performances; visual art exhibits; literary readings;
lectures; workshops; film screenings and cultural events. Many of the
activities are free and most are family friendly.
