Dear North County Neighbors,
I hope you and your loved ones had a wonderful February and stayed safe through the cold, snow, and wind we experienced this past month. I want to extend my gratitude to our Snohomish County Public Works and PUD employees for their hard work and dedication in responding to dangerous conditions, keeping our communities safe, and restoring power. Their commitment to public service is truly appreciated, especially during severe weather. In this month’s newsletter, I’ll be sharing updates on new initiatives, community events, and my work at the County Council.
Expanding Childcare Ordinance
Last month, I joined Councilmember Mead in introducing a co-sponsored ordinance to increase childcare availability in Snohomish County. Ordinance 25-015 would reduce regulatory barriers and expand zoning options for new childcare facilities in unincorporated Snohomish County. The proposal aims to address the ongoing childcare shortage by making it easier for providers to open new facilities and expand opportunities for families.
On March 18th at 9:00 AM, the County Council will hold a panel discussion with childcare providers to learn more about the challenges they face. This feedback will help inform the County’s strategy moving forward to address the childcare shortage. Members of the public can attend and watch the panel discussion either in person or via Zoom. For more details, visit the County Council Meeting Webpage.
Snohomish County Update Presentations
Last month, I had the opportunity to present to a number of community groups to provide an update on the work happening at the Snohomish County Council. I shared updates on the county budget, public safety initiatives, economic development, and county investment in local projects. I presented to the Rotary Clubs in Arlington, Marysville, and Stanwood through the month of February.
