Councilmember Nehring's February Newsletter

Snohomish County NewsNate Nehring

Dear North County Neighbors,

I hope you’re having a great start to the new year. January has been a busy month in Snohomish County and I will be sharing some updates on events, initiatives, and ways to get involved in this month’s newsletter.

Council Leadership Election

At the first meeting of the year, the Snohomish County Council elected our Council leadership. I’m honored to have been elected by my colleagues to serve as Chair of the County Council. Councilmember Dunn was elected Vice Chair. As I take on this leadership role, I am looking forward to working collaboratively with my fellow councilmembers, other county elected officials, and members of the public as we work to address key issues facing our communities. You can read the Everett Herald’s coverage of the leadership election at this link.

Civic Education Day

On January 30th, Councilmember Mead and I welcomed 200+ local students to the Snohomish County campus for Civic Education Day, where they had the opportunity to learn about county government, meet with elected officials, and engage with staff members across various departments. This was the third annual Civic Education Day. The students asked thoughtful questions and showed a real interest in civic engagement. It’s inspiring to see the next generation take an interest in how government works and I look forward to continuing this great tradition in the years to come.
