Phase one of the improvements will include replacing the boat launch, installing a new parking pare, and reconstructing the backshore berm. These upgrades will help improve accessibility to the park and allow more residents and visitors to enjoy this great natural asset.

Port Report

The Port of Everett is a significant driver of economic development, infrastructure improvements, and recreational opportunities in Snohomish County. On July 11th, Port of Everett Executive Director Lisa Lefeber provided The Port Report, an update on the status of the port and shared upcoming advancements which will contribute to the local economy.  

I appreciate the partnership with the Port of Everett and hearing about the excited developments on the Everett waterfront.  

Broadband Update to NCCC

On Wednesday, July 12th, I spoke at the North Counties’ Community Collaborative (NCCC) meeting and shared an update on our effort to expand broadband access in Snohomish County. During the presentation, I shared an update on the SR 530 grant and partnership with Ziply Fiber which will bring internet access to over 5,000 homes and businesses between Arlington and Darrington. Work is expected to begin later this year. 

I also updated the group on work contributing to the State’s 5-year action plan on broadband. Snohomish County staff, along with community partners, provided significant contributions to the state plan including inventory of existing assets, barriers to internet access, community anchor institutions, and other data. The state’s plan will ultimately be used to determine how the federal BEAD (Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment) funding will be distributed in Washington State.
