Dear North County Neighbors,

Memorial Day

On Monday, we observed Memorial Day to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedoms. I attended the dedication of Haller Bridge near Arlington as the Veterans Memorial Bridge and the unveiling of a new memorial on the Centennial Trail near the bridge. The memorial is unique in that it is the first specifically dedicated to the 18 Snohomish County casualties during the Global War on Terror. We have been working on this memorial project for two years and I am thankful to everyone who made it happen including local military families, the Snohomish County Executive’s Office, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the Snohomish County Arts Commission. Josh Dugan (pictured below) is a county employee and a U.S. Navy Veteran and was instrumental in making this memorial project a reality.
