Two Races from August 3 Primary Undergo Recount

Two races from the August 3 Primary are subject to a mandatory recount (RCW 29A.64.021). When the margin of votes between 2nd and 3rd place candidates is within .05% of the total votes cast for those candidates, a recount is required.

The races in the recount are:

  • City of Lynnwood Council Position 2
  • City of Mukilteo Council Position 3

Tuesday, Aug. 17

Canvassing Board authorizes staff to prepare for the recounts and sets time and date of recounting of ballots.

 

Thursday, Aug. 19

Last day for candidates to request  a recount.

 

Friday, Aug. 20 @ 9 a.m.

Staff pulls ballots for precincts in manual recounts, organizes by precinct, and reconciles the total number of ballots in each precinct to the original canvass.

 

Tuesday, Aug. 24 @ 9 a.m.                                                                  

Staff begins recounts of ballots.

 

Thursday, Aug. 26 @ 3:15 p.m.

 

Canvassing Board convenes to make determinations on any ballots with voter intent issues and to certify the results of the recounts.

 

 

Recount activities are open to the public with COVID precautions in place and will take place at:
