County Auditor Seeks Committee Members for Local Ballot Measure Statements

The Snohomish County Auditor's Office is seeking individuals to write statements for or against local ballot measures for the February 11, 2020 Special Election local voters’ pamphlet. Local voters’ pamphlets are published for special elections if requested by the district. Pamphlets are delivered to the voter as an insert with the ballot.

Committees are comprised of up to three individuals, one of whom is designated chair and serves as a contact point for the Auditor’s Office. Committees may seek input from any number of other individuals or groups.

Individuals interested in participating on a committee should have a clear interest for or against the ballot measure, be able to work cooperatively with other committee members, and have time available through December 23. Most committees communicate through email.

Committees write a 250-word statement for or against local ballot measures in the local voters’ pamphlet. Committees also prepare a 75-word rebuttal to the opposition’s statement. Statements are due no later than December 19 at 9 a.m. Rebuttal statements are due no later than December 23 at 5 p.m.

If you are interested in serving on a committee, email a statement of interest to elections@snoco.org by December 16 at 9 a.m. or contact the Auditor’s Office at (425) 388-3444. Individuals will be appointed by the County Auditor and will be notified on December 16.

A statement of interest includes your name, your contact information, the name of the ballot measure committee on which you would like to serve, and any information explaining why you should be on the committee.
