Today Snohomish County Elections mailed ballots for the August 6 Primary to 460,000 registered voters. A voters’ pamphlet has been mailed to every household.
The August Primary narrows the field of candidates in the November General Election. The Primary features important local races for county, city, school, fire and other district offices. The ballot also contains measures from local fire districts that impact district operations and funding.
Washington State Secretary of State in partnership with all 39 county election offices recently implemented a new statewide voter registration and election management system. The August Primary is the first election with the new system and as always, if voters do not receive a ballot, they should notify election officials. Ballots should arrive in the mail no later than Wednesday, July 24.
The August Primary marks a first for elections in Washington State. Same day voter registration went into effect on July 1, which allows voters to register or update an existing registration in person and receive a ballot through Election Day. In addition, the online or by mail deadline to register or update an existing registration has also been extended to 8 days before Election Day (July 29).
Voters are also encouraged to register, make changes to an existing registration or return their completed ballots as soon as practical.
There are several options available for returning your ballot – through a ballot drop box, an accessible voting site, directly to the Auditor’s Office, or by mail. Postage is not required regardless of how the ballot is returned.
For the Primary, the following ballot drop box locations will be open. Boxes at these locations are available 24-hours a day until 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, August 6. Locations are:

Voters may also drop completed ballots at the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with extended hours on Election Day, August 6, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Ballots returned through the mail must be postmarked no later than August 6.
Snohomish County Elections has accessible voting equipment for voters with disabilities available in the Auditor’s Office, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours will be extended to 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, August 6. Accessible voting equipment will also be available at the Lynnwood Sno-Isle Library on Monday, August 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, August 6. The Lynnwood Sno-Isle Library is located at 19200 44th Ave, Lynnwood.
