Focus on Farming
The 2018 Focus on Farming event was a huge success! I enjoyed seminars from our local farmers as well as fantastic food grown right here in Snohomish County and prepared by the phenomenal Chef Russell. I am constantly impressed with our agricultural partners in Snohomish County.
Budget
Monday morning we passed the 2019 budget. I appreciate the work of my fellow councilmembers Chair Stephanie Wright and Nate Nehring. They worked alongside Executive Somers all year to craft a budget that is fiscally responsible and meets the needs of our residents. A few highlights from the budget are: five new deputies to continue our focus on public safety and $1.5 Million toward US 2, and Highways 522, 526 and 524 to assist WSDOT in pushing forward on these critical east/west connectors. Also, in last year's budget a stabilization fund, aka "Rainy Day Fund," was created. This year the Council set aside $2.6 million in that fund. That account was created to provide long-term fiscal health for the County.
I was honored to participate in a few Veterans Day ceremonies in our district. We are grateful for the service of our Veterans and should take opportunities to thank them not only on Veterans Day but all year long.
I wanted to remind everyone of the Southwest UGA Boundary Study taking place at the county. Please visit the webpage to learn more.

As we approach Thanksgiving, I hope everyone takes the time to be thankful for their family, friends and community. We live in an amazing area with immense resources and beauty. I am honored to serve this district.
