New Ballot Drop Boxes Open in Mill Creek and Smokey Point

Snohomish County Elections has opened additional ballot drop boxes in Mill Creek and Smokey Point, bringing the number of county-operated 24-hour drop boxes to eighteen. Voters may return their completed ballot in its signature envelope any time before 8 p.m. on Election Day, November 6.

The Smokey Point Lowe’s is hosting the location of the Smokey Point ballot drop box.  Lowe’s in Smokey Point is located at 3300 169th Place NE in Arlington.  The ballot drop box is located at the north end of the parking lot.

Mill Creek area voters will find their new ballot drop box at the turnaround on 159th Place SE near the Mill Creek Post Office on Mill Creek Boulevard.  This location may get quite busy on Election Day so we ask that voters drop off their ballots before Election Day if possible.   Snohomish County Elections believes that the availability of ballot drop boxes at the Canyon Park Place shopping complex in Bothell and at McCollum Park just north of Mill Creek will mitigate some of the traffic impacts at the new Mill Creek ballot drop box.

“We are excited to open ballot drop boxes in Mill Creek and Smokey Point.  These boxes will provide more options for voters to return their ballot.  We are grateful to the City of Mill Creek and the Smokey Point Lowe’s for partnering with us on these projects,” said County Auditor Carolyn Weikel.

The Mill Creek and Smokey Point drop boxes were not listed on the insert that was mailed with voters’ ballots or in the local voters’ pamphlet for the General Election, due to uncertainty on the installation dates.  The locations of the new ballot drop boxes are listed on the Snohomish County Elections website (www.snoco.org/elections). The county is also utilizing its email subscriber list and social media to spread the word that the Mill Creek and Smokey Point ballot drop boxes are open for ballot returns.

Voters are encouraged to return completed ballots as soon as practical.  Ballots may be returned through any ballot drop box until 8 p.m. on Election Day, November 6.  Ballots may also be returned postage-paid through the mail but must be postmarked no later than November 6.

Individuals still have time to register to vote before the General Election but must register in-person at the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office no later than Monday, October 29.  The Snohomish County Auditor’s Office is located at 3000 Rockefeller Avenue, 1st Floor Administration West Building, Everett.
