Darcy Cheesman, Legislative Aide

Thanks for reading my newsletter this month.  Thursday, August 23rd I will be speaking at the Clearview Town Hall meeting.  The meeting is scheduled for 7pm at Clearview Foursquare Church at 17210 SR-9.  I would love to answer your questions and engage in open dialogue.

I'm honored to represent beautiful District 5, home of the best county fair, which begins this week.  Hope to see you out there!

Monroe to Duvall Shuttle

Friday August 17th was a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new shuttle bus that will run between Monroe and Duvall. This is a great new service that links Community Transit and King County Metro riders.  Prior to this shuttle for a person to ride a bus to the east side, they had to go to Everett and then make connections down south from there – with this new connections residents can take the shuttle to Duvall and be immediately connected to transit in East King County.  This shuttle will also take passengers to various locations throughout Monroe.  There is a suggested donation of $1.00 per ride. You can find route information here.

Wilderness Accessibility

Heirman

I found an interesting article in the Snohomish Tribune regarding wilderness accessibility for all residents.  This article was written by wilderness advocate, sportsman, preservationist and author, Bob Heirman, who died last year at the age of 84.  In the article, Heirman writes about access for all into our forest lands, with the end of the article cautioning against extremes in dealing with our forest lands so that all people, and all ages, have access to our amazing landscape. It was a great read and you can find it here.

Chronic Nuisance Properties

Nuisance 1

Last year council passed a chronic nuisance property ordinance to provide additional tools for our law enforcement teams in dealing with these properties.

I received some updates from the team and wanted to share some photos of properties that have been recently cleaned up in Gold Bar and Monroe.
