Mountain Bike Trail Closure at I-5 Colonnade Park Continues

Seattle, WA-The I-5 Colonnade Park southeastern mountain bike trails remain closed for safety reasons associated with the deteriorating wooden trail structures. Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is installing new signage to help visitors identify the affected areas and appreciates the community’s cooperation in adherence to this closure. The trail closure includes all dirt mountain bike trails on the south eastern portion of the park containing wooden features, including obstacles, riding surfaces, retaining walls, and ramps. These structures have deteriorated to the point that they have become dangerous if used. For everyone’s safety, visitors are asked to remain outside the closed areas, including those walking, cycling, or visiting with pets.

SPR is partnering with Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance to identify future funding to remove the wooden structures and reopen the area, however, funding and a timeline have not been determined. Other I-5 Colonnade Park amenities remain open. Visitors can enjoy other areas of I-5 Colonnade Park, including the dog park and the recently installed pump track.

Additionally, SPR offers mountain bikers trails at Cheasty Natural Area.  For additional mountain bike trail information please visit https://www.evergreenmtb.org/.
