Mayor Wilson to Sign Four out of Five RV Ordinances, Veto CB12183 Due to Efficacy Concerns

SEATTLE — Today, Mayor Katie Wilson vetoed Council Bill 121283 which would create a new Recreational Vehicle (RV) permit program. Mayor Wilson signed the other four ordinances that were part of the legislative package. She will announce a new Executive Order to address RVs on November 3 at a press availability.

“The Council and I share many of the same goals — we want to support unsheltered people in every neighborhood in our city, and ensure public space, including right of way, is available to everyone. I share the frustrations of residents and of members of the Seattle City Council around this important issue, and I encourage good faith efforts to find solutions to that will help people get and stay housed,” said Mayor Wilson.

The mayor’s executive order will focus on strengthening outreach and support services for people living in RVs and bring together City departments and community partners to improve how Seattle manages RVs. The goal of the order is better outcomes for people living in vehicles, fewer people living in vehicles over time, and cleaner, safer public spaces for everyone.
