Seattle, WA - The City of Seattle has announced the availability of at least $110 million in funding to support affordable rental housing development. This Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) supports the development of new affordable housing units, rehabilitation of existing units, and acquisition of properties to expand and maintain Seattle’s affordable housing stock. We expect to release a round of preservation and debt restructuring NOFAs by the end of 2026.

“Housing affordability is the cornerstone of my housing agenda,” said Mayor Katie B. Wilson. “These investments are essential to ensuring that people with the lowest incomes can live in this city, your city. I’m proud to make these resources available to create healthy, affordable homes that are within reach for people at every income level.”   

The 2023 Seattle Housing Levy, the primary funding source, was approved by Seattle voters in November 2023. The levy will generate property tax revenue through 2030 and is a critical component of the City’s strategy to increase housing affordability and availability. 

The Seattle Office of Housing aims to invest in projects that align with the City of Seattle’s goals of expanding affordable housing, preventing displacement, and addressing historic inequities that have contributed to housing instability.  

The available funding is targeted to support households earning between 0-60 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI), with a particular focus on permanent supportive housing, family-sized units, and communities heavily impacted by rising housing costs. Applications for funding should include at least 20% of homes that serve families (two or more bedrooms) or serve residents with the lowest incomes (0-30 percent AMI).
