Seattle Parks and Recreation Seeks Name for the Old Georgetown Flume Site

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) invites the public to submit name suggestions for the Georgetown Off-Leash Area. Park Naming suggestions for the park listed below are due to the Park Naming Committee by July 17, 2026.

We are seeking names for the following park (characterized with the working name):

Georgetown Off-Leash Area:

Historically, the property was referred to as the Georgetown Flume Site because it served as part of the conveyance system that supplied water from the Duwamish River to the Georgetown Steam Plant until operations ceased in 1975.  It is located at 1035 South Myrtle St. between the Aero Motel and the nearby Boeing campus. This project is a cross-departmental City of Seattle project between Seattle City Light, Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT), and SPR. The park development is the culmination of many years of community advocacy with support from the Seattle Parks Foundation.

The recently developed site includes the Georgetown to South Park Connection trail adjacent to an SPR Off-Leash Area which includes a small and shy dog area, water station, and accessible entry plaza. Additionally, the site includes a meadow area, 83 new trees and new plantings, and a small parking area.

Project history and design are included on SPR’s project website: https://www.seattle.gov/parks/about-us/projects/georgetown-off-leash-area-development and construction updates are provided on the SDOT project website: Georgetown to South Park Safety Project - Transportation | seattle.gov
