Mayor Wilson Statement on KCRHA Corrective Action Plan

The City and County jointly engaged Clark Nuber P.S. to assess the KCRHA Corrective Action Plan (assessment attached). Clark Nuber provided a high-level scorecard of the CAP across key dimensions. The scorecard finds that while the CAP shows progress toward addressing the financial risks identified in the forensic evaluation, in many areas the CAP is incomplete or insufficient.

Statement from Mayor Katie B. Wilson:

“My top priority is ensuring that the most vulnerable members of our community receive the shelter, housing and services they deserve. It is particularly essential that KCRHA has the support it needs to support a strong Continuum of Care application and disbursement of federal grant funding.

In the Corrective Action Plan, KCRHA concluded that “…the scale, urgency, and complexity of the current remediation effort exceed KCRHA’s current internal capacity and capability alone”. I agree with that assessment.

For that reason, I have partnered with Executive Zahilay to immediately embed a financial services team to shore up financial and internal controls at KCRHA. This investment reflects an ongoing commitment to strengthen financial oversight and ensure the right controls are in place to effectively administer system-wide resources.

I am committed to strong partnership with Executive Zahilay’s office, KCRHA leadership and community stakeholders throughout this process.”
