 Seattle’s neighborhoods come alive in the summer! As we all relish warmer weather and longer days, the Department of Neighborhoods (DON) wants to help you enjoy the vibrancy of our city – block by block, neighborhood by neighborhood. Next week, Seattle will welcome visitors from around the globe for the FIFA World Cup. This is an opportunity for us to represent our city; to share the rich culture, hidden gems, and undeniable charm that lay off the typical tourist path.

Pollinator Bed Work Party Upgarden P-Patch, 300 Mercer St | 9 AM - 1 PM Help renew wildlife and flower beds for the bees, birds, hummingbirds, insects, friendly soil bacteria, and community. Work needed includes weeding, sifting soil, and planting.

Giving Garden Work Party Picardo Farm, 8040 25th Ave NE | 5 - 6 PM All are welcome to join Picardo community gardeners prep their Giving Garden beds for another season of growing produce for neighbors in need. For more information visit the Picardo Garden event webpage.

Our City, Our Safety: Community Conversation Rainier Beach Community Center, 8825 Rainier Ave S | 6:00 - 7:30 PM Rainier Beach neighbors and more - join the Seattle Police Department and Seattle Department of Neighbors to share your thoughts and concerns about crime and safety in Rainier Beach. City representatives will listen, learn, and work together to address the issues that matter to you, and share updates on steps that have been taken to reduce crime in the area.

Composting Curious Interbay P-Patch, 2451 15th Ave W | 6:00 - 7:30 PM Have you wondered how to make and/or use compost in your garden? The DON P-Patch Program is partnering with Tilth Alliance to highlight the benefits, uses, and various methods for making compost! This class will include some show and tell with compost materials, a walk through the garden, and ample time for questions. Participants will receive a bokashi starter for composting.

Largest Dim Sum Dinner: GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ Attempt Wing Luke Museum | 3 - 4 PM Help Seattle’s Chinatown International District make dim sum history! Share a meal that celebrates the neighborhood’s culture, local restaurants, and community spirit. Ethiopian Community World Cup Watch Party & Festival Ethiopian Community in Seattle, 8323 Rainier Ave S | 12 PM A culturally rooted World Cup match‑viewing experience bringing the Ethiopian community together through sports, culture, and shared celebration.
