Councilmember Rivera’s statement on two District 4 homicides over the weekend

SEATTLE – Councilmember Martiza Rivera (District 4) released this statement after Seattle Police reported two separate homicides in her north Seattle district over the weekend.

“I want to acknowledge the tragic deaths of two young people in the district over the weekend. One, involving an employee of a small business, and the other, a fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old University of Washington student, which occurred off campus.

“The Seattle Police Department is investigating both crimes. The University of Washington has shared ways UW students can access counseling including the 24/7 Husky helpline at 206-616-7777 for same day consultations. My heart aches for the family and friends of these young people whose lives were cut so horribly short.”
