Office of Labor Standards Announces Settlement with Medstar Cabulance, Inc. for Alleged Minimum Wage Violations
$96,481.25 Returned to 138 workers
Seattle, WA (April 06, 2026) – The Seattle Office of Labor Standards (OLS) investigated Medstar Cabulance, Inc., for alleged violations of the Minimum Wage Ordinance. The company settled the allegations and agreed to pay a total financial remedy of $96,481.25 to 138 affected workers, and $691.87 to the City of Seattle for a complete total remedy of $97,173.12.
OLS alleged the employer failed to:
- Pay the correct minimum wage rate for employees who performed work within Seattle.
- Provide a notice of rights to those workers.
Medstar agreed to implement a time tracking system so that all hours worked within the City of Seattle are tracked going forward and to ensure they pay a rate not less than the applicable Seattle minimum wage rate.
“I believe minimum wage laws play a critical role in ensuring workers are paid fairly and are able to earn a living wage, while holding employers accountable. It is important for workers to stand up for their rights, especially when they are not being paid what they are owed. Speaking up can feel difficult, but it not only helps the individual, it can also make a difference for others facing the same situation,” said Medstar worker Andrew Busam. “I appreciate the Office of Labor Standards for its efforts to enforce these protections and support workers in receiving the wages they have earned.”
“The Minimum Wage Ordinance is Seattle’s backbone for workers’ rights, ensuring employees get paid at least the minimum wage. When workers like Busam come forward to report violations, OLS staff can investigate and, when appropriate, hold employers violating this law and other Seattle labor standards accountable,” said OLS Director Steven Marchese.
Medstar provides non-emergency medical transportation for clients in and outside the City of Seattle.
