Statement from Councilmember Lin and Mayor Wilson regarding yesterday's shooting in the CID

Mayor Katie B. Wilson and City Councilmember Eddie Lin (District 2) released the following statement regarding the shooting of two teens in the Chinatown-International District on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

“We are deeply concerned about gun violence in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District, and devastated that two teenagers were the victims. Incidents like this are a painful reminder of the ongoing impact of gun violence on our communities, particularly in neighborhoods that have been calling for support and safety for far too long.

Gun violence is preventable, and addressing it requires sustained, coordinated action. We must do more to break this cycle of violence and prevent further harm and grief.”

Thankfully, the injured teens are expected to recover.

The City of Seattle is requesting anyone with information, from local businesses to community members, to reach out to the Seattle Police Department tipline at 206-233-5000.
