Downtown foot traffic and economic activity on the rise ๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿ™๏ธ

Downtown runs on people and the holiday season brought more than 921,000 locals to Downtown last month, more than any other month in 2025, according to new data from the Downtown Seattle Association.

This surge of ย workers, residents, and visitors, paired with new business openings, is powering stronger economic activity and bringing fresh energy to the heart of the city: Downtown Seattle nears pre-pandemic visitor levels in December โ€“ Puget Sound Business Journal.

๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ† The Seahawks punched their ticket to Super Bowl LX! The Hawks took the NFC Championship in a thrilling 31-27 victory over the Los Angeles Rams, sending 12s into celebration across Downtown and throughout the city. With the help of thousands of screaming fans at Lumen Field, the Seahawks capped off a dominant win and gave Downtown businesses and supporters plenty to cheer about: Seattle Seahawks to play New England Patriots in Super Bowl 2026 โ€“ Fox 13.


โšฝ๐Ÿฅ… For the first time in nearly a decade, the U.S. Women's National Team is returning to Seattle. The USWNT will face long-time rival Japan on Tuesday, April 14, at Lumen Field. Marking a major milestone for soccer in the Pacific Northwest, the match will be played on natural grass โ€“ installed in preparation for the 2026 FIFA Menโ€™s World Cup. ๐Ÿš‰๐ŸŒŠ Itโ€™s official: Downtown will link with the Eastside this spring! After nearly two decades of planning and discussion, Sound Transit announced that on March 28, the Crosslake Connection, a new Link light rail segment that will run across Lake Washington on the I-90 floating bridge, will start service. This expansion will make it easier for more regional residents to access Downtown, and will add stations at Mercer Island and Judkins Park: After 18 years of talk, Sound Transit says cross lake light rail will open March 28 โ€“ KOMO News.


๐Ÿงƒ๐Ÿฅ— Joe & the Juice will open a new location in Downtown Seattle this spring at 1303 Fifth Ave. The menu will feature fresh juices, coffee, smoothies, breakfast bowls, and sandwiches. ๐Ÿ‘•๐Ÿ‘œ Nordstrom Rack announced plans to relocate its Downtown store from Fifth Avenue and Pine Street to a new location one block away at Sixth Avenue and Pine Street. The 39,000-square-foot store is set to open in spring 2027, offering improved street access and enhanced shopping services for customers: Downtown Seattle Nordstrom Rack store relocating โ€“ FOX 13 Seattle.

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿข The Pioneer Collective plans to grow its Belltown co-working hub by adding nearly 6,600 square feet above its current location in the historic Guiry Schillestad Building. The expansion adds more private offices and meeting rooms to support freelancers, startups, and small teams. Construction is set to begin this February, with an opening expected in late summer: Pioneer Collective expanding its co-working space in Downtown Seattle โ€“ GeekWire.

Looking ahead

๐ŸŽผ๐ŸŽญ Seattle Repertory Theatre marks a major milestone by bringing back one of its most beloved productions to the Downtown stage. The โ€œWild Partyโ€ kicks off a special 20th anniversary run this Friday, January 30, inviting audiences to reconnect with a fan-favorite show and experience its powerful story all over again. Be sure to grab tickets, the show only runs through Sunday, February 8 at the Center Theatre at Seattle Center Armory.

๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŽŠ Join the Tแบฟt Celebration in Little Saigon from February 6 โ€“ 8. In Vietnamese culture, Tแบฟt, or Lunar New Year, marks a time of renewal, family, and cultural pride. This three-day celebration features events for all ages, including a market highlighting local Asian American small businesses, lion dances, live performances, and more!


ย ๐Ÿง–๐ŸŒŠ Tuli Lodge is bringing warmth, wellness, and connection to the Waterfront with a pop-up social sauna on Pier 62 this winter. The experience invites residents and visitors to enjoy sauna sessions, cold plunges, and sweeping Elliott Bay views while gathering outdoors during the winter season. Join them for a cozy, relaxing experience now through April 30.


๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿง  Seattle Art Museum invites visitors to interact with Song Cycle, a new kinetic sculpture that blends visual art with imaginative sound and memory. The piece uses a 256-character split-flap board, like the classic arrival boards from old train stations, to generate ever-shifting poetic phrases that prompt listeners to hear different music in their minds.
