☀️❄️ The winter solstice brought seasonal arts and community gatherings to life across the city, including in Downtown. Celebrations included free firepit socials on Pier 62, the Office of Arts and Culture's second annual Longest Night celebration at King street station, as well as collective readings, sing-alongs, marimba performances, and choral music: Art x NW: solstice in Seattle with firepits, performance and song – Cascade PBS.
🎥📺 FOX 13 Seattle and FOX 13+ announced plans to relocate their broadcast and newsroom operations to a new, modern studio inside the redeveloped Axis9 tower in the Denny Triangle. 🎩 A hat placed on the historic Bush Garden sign in the Chinatown-International District is honoring the neighborhood’s heritage and community leader “Uncle Bob” Santos. The quirky yet heartfelt gesture highlights the karaoke-bar-turned-cultural landmark’s history as a gathering place. It also honors Santos’ work in activism and community building, serving as a reminder of the people and stories that shape Downtown: Hat on Bush Garden sign evokes memories of Bob Santos – Northwest Asian Weekly.
🏗️🚧 A long-planned Little Saigon Landmark Project will break ground next year, marking a major milestone for Downtown’s Chinatown-International District. The mixed-use development will include a community center and commercial space beneath 70 affordable housing units. The project aims to create a cultural and gathering hub designed to support local businesses, host classes and events, and anchor the neighborhood’s ongoing revitalization.
