Hello RainWise Contractors! December is busy for everyone, so we're keeping it short and sharing only key updates. Look forward to more RainWise news in the New Year!

Staffing Changes at SPU

Alan Guo wrapped up his time as the temporary RainWise Program Manager at Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) just before Thanksgiving and returned to his full-time job at SDOT. I, Carrie Schaffner, have stepped into the Program Manager role at SPU.

Bill Malatinsky, Outreach Lead at SPU, will be taking a well-earned sabbatical starting at the end of this month. We are in the process of hiring a temporary person to fill Bill's role until he returns in late 2026. We look forward to introducing that new person in January!

Contractor Forum

Connect with other RainWise Contractors on Slack

We have set up a Slack workspace as a forum for contractors to connect. We've heard from contractors that folks want a way to connect with each other, share ideas, coordinate supply orders, and learn from each other. We've started a few channels with topics like materials sourcing, but you'll be able to start your own, or start a small group chat within the larger group. To join, click the invitation link below.

This is completely optional, and will not be an official mode of program communication: program staff will support as needed, but this is meant as a casual space for contractors. If you have a program question or a time-sensitive need, email us at rainwise@seattle.gov. Official program communication will continue to come through newsletters and emails. Please treat this space as a friendly, constructive billboard: don't share personal client information, and stay kind.

End of Year Tasks: Verify Your Profile & Complete Brief Survey

Use the links below to verify your contractor profile is up to date.

We want to make sure that when RainWise customers look for a contractor, whether through contractor matchmaking or the "find a contractor" web page, they are getting accurate information. To that end, please review your contractor profile on the RainWise "Find a Contractor" page. Use the buttons below to either email us to verify that everything is correct, or use the link to the form to make changes.

Want to double check that your profile contains everything you want? Use the filters on the lefthand side the way customers do and make sure your business shows in the results.

Please note that verifying or updating your profile will be required to stay on the contractor matchmaking list, starting in January.

Help us help you: complete a brief 4-question survey

We also want to make sure that we're doing what we can to support our contractors in being successful! We want to increase installations in the new year, and want to hear from you about what we can do to enable your success. Please complete the brief survey linked below.

We've upgraded our onboarding packet from a stack of PDFs to a Microsoft Form. The same form allows you, our current contractors to update your profile at any time throughout the year.

Eligibility Map Pop-up

In an effort to give customers more realistic expectations, we've changed the language in the pop-up window on the eligibility map. Previously, a customer in a RainWise basin got a message that said "Congratulations! You're eligible for RainWise!". We've revised the language that they are in a RainWise area, and will need to check additional factors to confirm their eligibility, pointing them first to program staff for a review or consultation to confirm their parcel eligibility.

Online Training Course on Pause until January

We have temporarily taken the online contractor training modules off the website as we make a few updates and edits: we plan to have this back online in January, and will notify you, along with anyone who has started the modules.
