Stay Informed! Denny Way Paving Project Update
We Are Completing Our Final Work on Denny Way
Our construction work on the Denny Way Paving Project is nearing completion. We've paved almost 12 blocks of Denny Way to make using Denny Way easier and better for residents and commuters alike. Our work has included asphalt paving, sidewalk upgrades, bus stop changes, new pedestrian ramps, areas of widened sidewalks that shorten crossing distances, new stop bars painted on the street, and new "no turn on red" signs.

What We’re Doing in the Coming Weeks
The Denny Way Paving project is entering its final stages! Over the next two weeks, you will see our crew members working overnight to complete permanent road markings, street markings and signage. If you are travelling in the area, watch for changing traffic patterns, and follow any signs that direct you around work zones.

 Westlake Avenue Transit Improvements
We will begin working on a new project at Westlake Ave and Denny Way in early September. We will be making some adjustments to the road at the intersection of Westlake Ave and Denny Way to improve the flow of the Seattle Streetcar and to enhance safety for pedestrians and people riding buses.
Key Changes and Improvements include:
- Preventing right turns onto Denny Way from Westlake Ave to help the Seattle Streetcar reliability and improve safety for pedestrians
- Separating the transit-only lane from other traffic to reduce congestion
- Adding new signs along several nearby streets to guide travelers after changes are made
- Updating traffic signals
Our work may happen at nights and on weekends in September and October to minimize impacts to the Seattle Streetcar, and service may shut down temporarily for concrete and asphalt work. More information can be found here. We will also share additional updates prior to the work.
