Construction updates for 15th Ave W/NW + Leary Way Bridge Construction

August 12, 2025 

The Leary Way Bridge will be closed nightly from 10 PM to 5 AM, starting August 12 through August 15, to complete essential repairs on its expansion joints. 

Ballard Bridge Remains Open. The Ballard Bridge will remain open and accessible until further notice. 

We’re pleased to announce that this project is on track for completion soon. Stay tuned for updates as we approach the finish line.

What to expect

  • You may hear loud humming and grinding, diesel engine exhaust, and workers' voices. You may also hear and feel low pitch vibrations.  
  • We will temporarily close driving lanes on 15th Ave NW between NW 57th St and NW Ballard Way.
  • We will close streets to thru traffic as needed between 17th Ave NW and 14th Ave NW. You will still be able to walk, roll, bike, or drive to businesses and homes on these streets.  
  • We will temporarily close the sidewalk in work areas. There will be detour signs in place to direct you around construction. 

What's happened lately?

In the past few weeks, crews continued to work north of the Ballard Bridge between NW Market St and NW Leary Way. Crews are continuing seismic retrofit work on the Leary Way Bridge as well. Check out these photos below to see our progress!
