Seattle volunteers roll up their sleeves for a Day of Service! 💙💚

Mayor Bruce Harrell joined community leaders and volunteers on Saturday for the fourth annual One Seattle Day of Service. This year’s event brought together more than 2,500 volunteers at over 85 project sites, working together across the city to help clean, restore, and support neighbors. With more than 1,800 volunteer shifts, the effort showcased how civic pride and collaboration are core values that unite us.

🧤🪴 Mayor Harrell helped with community cleanups and beautification efforts in Little Saigon, the Central District, and West Seattle. The event featured collaboration with local organizations and businesses, highlighting Seattle’s strong network of engagement and neighborly support. The marquee event will return in 2026 with even more volunteer opportunities!

Playground at Pier 58

🌊🎉 Join us on Friday, July 25, as we celebrate the grand opening of Pier 58! The new park on the Waterfront features nearly 50,000 square feet of family-friendly space, including a sea life-themed playground. 🐙🛝 A free community celebration is planned from 4 – 8 p.m., and all are welcome to enjoy the newest chapter in the reimagined Waterfront: Mayor Harrell and the Office of the Waterfront, Civic Projects and Sound Transit to Open Pier 58 on July 25 – Office of the Mayor.


🥗🌯 PCC Corner Market is now open at 4th and Union! This smaller, more convenient store is designed for Downtown workers and residents. Open Monday through Friday, it offers quick and easy options like breakfast, lunch, and grab-and-go essentials for after work. Stop by and check it out: Downtown – PCC Corner Market.

🚢🌱 Washington’s first hybrid-electric ferry set sail from the Waterfront last week! The Wenatchee relaunched on July 10 from Pier 52, its first since being converted from diesel fuel to hybrid-electric power. Governor Bob Ferguson and former Governor Jay Inslee were on board the ferry to mark the occasion. The vessel is expected to reduce fuel use by up to 95 percent once fully electric. This effort highlights Seattle’s leadership in sustainable transportation: WA’s first electrified ferry sails, with 2 governors on board – The Seattle Times.


🏆 Seattle is getting national recognition. The National Civic League named our city one of ten 2025 All-America City Award recipients, an honor recognizing cities with community-driven efforts to strengthen sustainability and civic infrastructure. Behind Seattle’s award, three standout initiatives: the Food Action Plan, the Transportation Electrification Infrastructure Plan, and the Cedar River Watershed Tours. Together, these efforts reflect the City’s commitment to building a more connected and climate-ready future. Seattle continues to set the standard for how cities can lead in innovation and sustainability nationwide: 2025 All-America City Finalist: Seattle, WA – National Civic League.

🎨 Vibrant street art is brightening up Downtown! You can find more than 30 new street murals across Downtown neighborhoods, thanks to the City’s partnership with the Downtown Seattle Association. These artworks are transforming vacant storefronts into colorful expressions of community, culture, and creativity. The project supports local artists, and invites neighbors and visitors alike to explore new walkable art corridors throughout the city: Murals bring splash of color to vacant storefronts in downtown Seattle – KNKX Public Radio.

Looking ahead

🖼️🧑‍🎨 The Seattle Art Fair returns to Lumen Field this week. In its ninth year, the event showcases artists from around the Pacific Northwest. Check out exhibits by local museums, view art by local artists, and even watch glass artists craft pieces live. The Art Fair starts Thursday, July 17 and runs through Sunday, July 20. 🥟🥢 Head to the Chinatown-International District Summer Food Walk on Saturday, July 19 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. for a delicious afternoon at some of the C-ID’s favorite spots. Start at Hing Hay Park, grab a map, and spend the day tasting your way through one of Seattle’s most diverse communities.


🎶🎷 Grab some friends and head to Jazz Night in Pioneer Square! The free, all-ages event will showcase great music from local artists on Tuesday, July 29 from 6 – 10 p.m. All evening, enjoy 14 jazz bands playing in 14 local venues in  Seattle’s iconic first neighborhood.
