 Mayor Harrell signed new legislation that will streamline the permitting process for Sound Transit expansion to Ballard and West Seattle. The goal is to cut the permitting time in half, from the previous average of 240 days down to 120. The Ballard Link Extension is expected to be completed by 2039 and West Seattle Link Extension by 2032.
Founded by Shane Bastian in 2012, Sparklebarn is a retail shop in Ballard that feels more like a tiny museum overflowing with a curated collection of vintage and restored furniture by renowned Scandinavian and mid-century modern designers, and local artists, too.
Sparklebarn does most of their furniture restoration in-house, including Danish cord weaving. A scarcity of materials like rattan and wicker during World War II led Danish furniture designers to develop the technique that uses surprisingly strong cord made from tightly twisted paper.
